Baby Registry

Introduction

Welcome PreZ and Marieke's baby registry. This is a site where you can pledge to buy, or help buy items that will be needed for our new baby within the first twelve months of birth. If you think of something that we have neglected to put on this list, please let us know (this is our first child, after all)! For items not on our registry, or if you want to make something for us yourself, please check out the Other Items section. To get to the actual registry, please click on the Registry link in the second navigation square.

The products listed on this site are our preferred products, and we would appreciate you stick to this list (though, of course, we're always open to suggestions, please check the Other Items section). We have made some reasonable effort to try and ensure that the vendor links we provide are one of the cheapest providing each item, however we have also endeavoured to try and keep the vendor list down (it would be a real hassle to have a different vendor for every item on this list). We realise some items are quite expensive, but we've also taken care in picking items that will last a long time, so that we'll be able to use them for possible other children. We figure that buying good things the first time around will probably mean we don't have to replace much the second (or nth) time around.

You must have a registered account to pledge towards any item on this list. Anyone can apply for an account, however it must be approved before you can login to that account (we will e-mail you when this has happened). This measure has been employed to help prevent bogus pledges. Information is, of course, only viewable to us. Once your account is approved, you simply need to login, and then click on an item to view it in more detail, and pledge to it.

This site allows two kinds of pledges - either a monetary amount to be put toward a specific item, or a pledge to buy the item yourself. Some items you will not be able to pledge to buy yourself, only pledge money towards. We have done this only with items where we need a specific number of a specific style or colour. Whichever pledge you choose to do, you are responsible for ensuring the money and/or item are delivered to us. Once we have received the item or money, we will update your account to indicate we have received it.

We would like to take this opportunity to thank all those who pledge, big and small alike, toward our baby! Please try and ensure that packages and/or payments reach us by June 15, 2005. We would like to be able to have or purchase most of our items before the baby arrives, whether on time or a little on the early side, hence the time margin. Obviously this isn't particularly pressing for items such as toys/books (especially not as they won't be needed for a couple of months after birth anyway) but we would definitely like all the diapering stuff and the bed to be here well ahead of time. We definitely do not expect all items on this list to be purchased, but we appreciate any support, especially towards the main/big ticket items, such as diapering, bedding and travelling. Everything else is just gravy.

Other Items

A few hints, tips and other info for those people considering sending us items not on our registry...

Clothing
We already have quite a few clothing items in the 0-3 month range, and a couple in the 3-6 month range. So before purchasing anything in that size range, please contact us (before you buy anything) to see whether we need more in that size. Especially 0-3 months is a size that babies apparantly grow out of really fast, and so while we already have a bunch of stuff, we don't really want to have loads of cute outfits that might only get worn once before they're too small. Handmade stuff is definitely appreciated if you would like to do that.

And remember the appropriate season corresponding to the age of our baby!

Blankets
While we love handmade items, we don't want to have a stack of blankets to the ceiling. We have one friend so far who has told us she's making a blanket, and we already own another as well. Please, contact us before you buy something or endeavour to make one, just so we can tell you what the tally is.

Handmade Items
We love handmade stuff, and would love if crafty people make us items instead of buying things if they like. Use your imagination, go wild. And no need to stick to gender neutral colours such as yellow and green. We also like bright colours.

Toys
Wooden toys are definitely appreciated. As are items, like cloth toys, that you might want to make yourself. Preferably no PVC toys.

Please, no battery operated noisy toys.

Books
I would especially like to ask any friends or relatives in Holland to consider sending baby/children's books that are in Dutch! And for those people who are aware of my fetish for The Hungry Caterpillar, I do already own the board book (and numerous clothing/other items).

Nederlandse boekjes zijn hier uiteraard niet makkelijk te vinden, dus alles is welkom, want ik zou graag ons kindje twee-talig opvoeden.
